Born and raised in Pakistan, Dr. Mehnaz Ashraf Haq graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi in 1989. She received her internal medicine training at Jersey Shore Medical Center in New Jersey. After settling in the United States with her husband and three kids, she returned to Kashmir as a practicing internist to fulfill her late father’s wish of helping those in their homeland. She founded Ashraf & Munira Memorial Hospital (A&MMH) in late 2017 on her family’s land, and it has been a staple in the area ever since.
Her mission in founding A&MMH was to create a sustainable support structure for the community’s healthcare needs, particularly for those unable to otherwise afford treatment. High morbidity rates plague the area usually due to treatable diseases; thus, A&MMH strongly believes in treating by early accurate diagnosis and in- time treatment assurance. Coupled with education for disease prevention, these steps create long-lasting, healthy communities.
A&MMH (a charity-based healthcare facility) has treated hundreds of patients since its opening. It has introduced groundbreaking technology to the area, including telemedicine for remote specialists and an emergency operating theater alongside maternity services and 24-hour care. These facilities work to assure that patients, irrespective of location, receive the standard of care everyone is entitled to.
